Khaki, whose Hindi name means ‘earthy’, was originally associated with the color of British military uniforms. Even the most serious publications did not develop much about the exact camouflage colors of that period, limiting themselves to the use of general terms from official regulations, possibly introducing the distinction between “light” or “dark khaki” shades – primarily on the basis of black and white photos, on which you can clearly see the differences in the shade of this color. The Khaki shade is not strictly specified and oscillates between dirty yellow and yellowish brown, as well as rotten, desaturated green.
